Johannesburg – Former 5FM and Cliff Central producer Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon in Johannesburg’s central business district.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred near the Carlton Centre, where Stock was allegedly gunned down. Conflicting accounts initially suggested he might have been critically injured, but sources now confirm that the shooting was fatal.
DJ Warras had recently attracted attention for controversial remarks involving Cat Matlala and Rachel Kolisi.
Rob Hersov, a close friend, shared the news on X, describing the killing as a murder. “He was murdered today in Johannesburg. I just want to say he is the most loving, compassionate, friendly, honest, open, decent human being, and it is a tragedy beyond belief. Warras, we love you, we miss you, may you rest in peace, brother,” Hersov wrote.
Police in Johannesburg have yet to release an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
