Mbabane – A 65-year-old man from Luhlendlweni has appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court facing charges for allegedly committing a sexual offence against a three-year-old child on November 21, 2025.
The accused is charged under Sections 3(1), 3(2), 3(3)(c), and 3(6)(e), read with Section 3(9)(b) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act No. 15 of 2018. Court documents state that the act was carried out unlawfully and involved direct sexual contact with the minor.
Authorities told the court that aggravating factors apply under Section 185 bis of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act No. 67 of 1938, as amended, including the failure to use protection, which placed the child at risk of sexually transmitted infections including HIV.
The accused has been informed that his details will be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders. He remains in custody and is remanded until January 6, 2026, while awaiting a trial date. He may apply for bail at the High Court.
