Maseru – Lesotho has moved to strengthen its democratic institutions through a new Host Country Agreement signed on Thursday between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, widely known as International IDEA. The signing took place in Maseru.
According to the ministry, the agreement is designed to support Lesotho’s ongoing work in constitutional development, the rule of law, electoral systems, governance reforms, digital transformation, and efforts to build a more inclusive democracy.
Authorities in Maseru believe the presence of International IDEA will open doors to international expertise, improve the country’s standing in global governance circles and create employment opportunities for local professionals working in democracy and governance fields.
