Mbabane – Bafana Siphelele Motsa, 27, of Ngcobingweni, who had been arrested and charged with the offence of robbery after he allegedly attacked and robbed Ntobeko Dube at Elangeni on 1 December 2025 appeared at the Mbabane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
According to the charge sheet, Motsa is accused of wrongfully, unlawfully, and intentionally robbing Dube by threatening to stab him with a knife to force him into submission. He allegedly took an iPhone SE valued at E6,000 and cash amounting to E1,100, all belonging to or in the lawful possession of Dube.
During his court appearance, Motsa had bandages on his head following a head injury. He said he was hospitalised and treated after being assaulted by some men prior to his arrest.
He told the court that he had been hitchhiking when he was attacked on Sunday night. During the proceedings, the prosecution applied for Motsa to be remanded in custody until 9 December 2025 for his next court appearance for resetting.
Nevertheless, Motsa was given E2000 bail with strict conditions, including that he must not commit a similar offence while out on bail, he must not interfere with Crown witnesses especially the complainant by manipulating them to settle the matter out of court, and he must also present himself during all court summons and failure to abide by all these conditions bail will be revoked.
