Andhra Pradesh, India – Kia has unveiled a first teaser image and set the launch date for its all-new Seltos, the second generation of the compact SUV assembled in India. The model, produced at Kia’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, will make its global debut on 10 December.
The new Seltos marks a complete redesign from the first generation, which launched six years ago. The teaser shows a bold reinterpretation of Kia’s Opposites United design language, with C-shaped headlight clusters featuring vertical inner elements and sweeping daytime running lights extending from the bonnet to the bumper edges. Styling cues appear to draw from the electric EV4 and the Sonet, another SUV built at the same facility.
Details on the interior remain under wraps, though analysts expect influences from the Sonet and Kia’s EV models. Engine options have not been confirmed, but the current India-made Seltos offers 1.5 and 1.6-litre petrol units, a 1.5-litre turbodiesel, and a 1.5 T-GDI, while South Korean-assembled models also feature a 1.6-litre turbodiesel and 2.0-litre petrol engine.
Kia is expected to release additional teasers before the full unveiling next Wednesday. Availability in South Africa has not yet been confirmed, with announcements likely to follow either after the launch or early next year.
