Mbabane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), in collaboration with the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency of South Africa, the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF), and the Eswatini Road Safety Council, has launched a two-day joint operation to enhance road safety awareness and promote responsible behavior among road users.
The operation, conducted as part of Transport Month activities in November, seeks to reduce traffic congestion and increase safety awareness ahead of the festive season, when road use typically rises.
Authorities said the campaign will place special emphasis on safe practices in public transport, including ensuring transport operators comply with safety regulations and maintain vehicles to the required standards.
“This joint effort underscores our commitment to protecting road users and promoting responsible behavior on our roads,” a REPS spokesperson said, adding that the collaboration with regional and local road safety agencies strengthens enforcement and public education initiatives.
Transport Month was designated by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to raise awareness about safe and responsible road use. The joint operation comes at a critical time as Eswatini prepares for increased traffic volumes during the holiday season.
Road users are urged to adhere to traffic rules, observe speed limits, and practice caution, particularly when using public transport, to ensure a safer environment for all.
