Mbabane – A 21-year-old man, Sethu Mashinini of Gobholo, has been arrested for housebreaking with intent to steal, he appeared at the Mbabane Magistrates Court after breaking into a home at Thembelihle and stole some items.
Mashinini was charged with the offence of housebreaking with intent to steal. The prosecutor told the court that on 27 October 2025, he unlawfully and intentionally broke into the home of Lindiwe Zandile Kunene, from where he stole a lot of items, clothing items, food and electronics.
Stolen Items Worth E6,450, the stolen items included, white and black Airforce sneakers – E1,200, cadac No. 3 handigas – E800, black leather jacket – E800, black Samsung S8 – E300, cadac 6kg handigas – E1,500, adidas green pants – E300, black All-Star sneakers – E15,000, 2 x 2kg Tastic rice – E80, 2 x full chickens – E190, perfume – E180, charging cable – E100, adding to a total amount of E6,450.
In court when asked how he gained access to the home of Kunene, Mashinini explained to the court, telling the court that while washing a car, he saw the keys to the house. He copied the key numbers, went to make a duplicate key, and returned the next day to unlock the house and take the items.
His admission and plea of guilty was put into consideration. Mashinini was found guilty as charged, and was sentenced to pay a fine of E5 000, in default of payment of five years’ imprisonment.
Mashinini was advised about the breaking into people’s homes and advised him to refrain from criminal activities, and that he is still young with a bright future ahead.
