Mbabane – Accused Bongani Malinga, a 37-year-old man from Maphalaleni appeared today at the Mbabane Magistrates Court facing a charge of theft of construction tools valued at over E10 000.
These were Sanele Dlamini’s belongingings, court records show.
It was on October 9, 2025, at Woodlands–Phase II in the Hhohho region where Malinga was found to have stolen these belongings, including several power tools.
They include a Bosch circular saw valued at E2 800, Mitre saw valued at E4 500, Laser level tri-stand (telescope) valued at E2 800, AAA battery charger valued at E430. The total value of the stolen equipment amounts to E10 230.
During his court appearance, Malinga, when asked how he would conduct his defence, told the court that he intended to conduct his own defence and he will plead guilty to the offence. The matter was stood down and scheduled for trial on 22 December 2025 after he applied for bail. The prosecutor did not oppose his application and was granted E2 500 bail.
There were also strict conditions including not to interfere with the witnesses, especially the complainant, to attend all court summons when ordered to, and not to commit a similar offence while out on bail. The court warned that any breach of these conditions would result in the revocation of his bail while the case will return to court on December 20 for trial.
