Mbabane: The total number of COVID-19 related deaths has increased to 21 as one (1) death confirmed on Thursday, along with 63 new cases.
In the daily reports, the Ministry of Health reported that the 21st death was a 39 year old female from Manzini, she was seen at one of the country’s health facilities on July 12. She presented with severe respiratory symptoms due to co-existing illness and treated as a suspect of COVID-19 disease. Her condition reportedly worsened while awaiting her results and unfortunately succumbed to COVID-19 on July 15.
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi said her ministry notes with concern the increase in the number of deaths in the country as a result of pre-existing illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiac disease and asthma. Therefore urges the public to ensure that they do medical check ups regularly, at least once a year and those diagnosed with a chronic illness should adhere to the treatment as advised by health workers.
On another Nkosi announced 63 new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Eswatini to 1552. Nkosi also announced that the total number of recoveries has also increased to 736 as 12 new recoveries confirmed on this date.
