Mbabane: At the height of rapidly growing numbers of confirmed cases, the Ministry of Health is considering to use the Co-operative Development Centre (CODEC) to quarantine asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi told this Independent News that her ministry is considering to use the college premises because the number of cases keeps on increasing. Nkosi said the centre is also being evaluated alongside other possibilities hence the issue has not yet reached finalization stage so that it could be used as a quarantine center.
Minister Nkosi said the ministry of health is also reviewing other quarantine issues and costs and an updated plan will be given out in due course.
Nkosi said at the moment, the government is still able to provide beds and space to accommodate COVID-19 patients. Nkosi said since the situation keeps on changing daily, the ministry is working on adding more beds for patients.
A majority of asymptomatic patients are currently quarantined at Mavuso Exhibition Centre in four pavilions where where beds and other essential equipment were installed.
The pavilions have a capacity to house around 140 people, and each pavilion accommodates about 35 patients. Bathrooms and outside showers were set up outside the pavilions.
