Johannesburg – Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa has unveiled a revamped line-up for its C5 range, which now offers four models, down from six. The new structure includes a combination of design changes, improved features, and a price cap of under R350 000 for the entry-level model.
The line-up reshuffle includes the rebranding of the C5 Street to the C5 Street+, a move aimed at simplifying the range while offering better value for money. This change follows the introduction of the X-Series earlier this year, which saw the C5 gaining additional features and performance updates.
The C5 Street+ replaces the previously available Lux S and Elegance S trim grades, and introduces key updates. Among them, the six-speaker sound system replaces the older four-speaker system, while a new drive mode selector adds Eco and Sport settings. Additionally, the engine has been upgraded from a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre to a turbocharged unit, boosting performance to 115kW and 230Nm of torque, up from 83kW and 138Nm. This new engine is paired with a CVT transmission that drives the front wheels.

The Style variant, now renamed Style X, gets the same turbocharged engine but is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission for better performance. A multi-link rear suspension replaces the previous torsion beam design for improved handling, while LED headlights are now standard. The boot capacity has also been increased, offering up to 1 149 litres of space, compared to 1 075 litres in the previous versions.
The Lux X and Elegance X models remain unchanged in terms of specification.
Pricing for the updated C5 range is as follows:
- C5 1.5 T-GDI Street+ CVT: R339 900
- C5 1.5 T-GDI Style X DCT: R374 900
- C5 1.5 T-GDI Lux X DCT: R425 900
- C5 1.5 T-GDI Elegance X DCT: R465 900
All models come with a two-year/25 000 km service plan for the Street+ and Style X variants, and a five-year/70 000 km service plan for the Lux X and Elegance X. A five-year/150 000 km warranty and a ten-year/1 000 000 km engine warranty for the first owner are also included.
