Mbabane — An 18-year-old has been sentenced to community service after being found guilty of housebreaking and theft at Nkoyoyo Run and Fire Guest House on 16 November 2025. The offender stole 7,000 emalangeni in cash belonging to Mthandazo Mango.
Court records show the accused broke into the guest house through a window with the intent to steal. A security guard noticed suspicious movement and caught the suspect attempting to flee with the money. All of the stolen cash was recovered.
During the trial, the young offender, a first-time offender, expressed remorse. It was revealed that they had completed school, were unemployed, and lived with their grandmother. The court noted that the accused had no prior convictions and was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
The magistrate ordered the offender to perform community service at Mafutseni Police Station from 08:00 to 13:00 daily until the tasks are completed. In delivering the sentence, the magistrate warned: “Your life is just beginning, and now you have a criminal record that future employers will see.”
The stolen money was returned to the complainant, and the court encouraged the accused to reflect on their actions and avoid future criminal behaviour.
