Prince Mangosuthu Stadium – The 2025 Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup Final was called off after persistent heavy rains left the pitch waterlogged, resulting in AmaZulu FC and Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs being declared joint champions.
The final was scheduled at Prince Mangosuthu Stadium but severe weather made the field unsafe for play. The match commissioner confirmed that the decision was taken to protect player safety and ensure fair competition. Both teams and their supporters were left disappointed as the rain worsened throughout the day.
Following consultations between the tournament organisers and representatives from both clubs, a mutual agreement was reached to share the title. Officials said that a thorough assessment of the weather and pitch conditions determined that postponing the match would not be feasible given team schedules and logistical constraints.
“After carefully evaluating the weather and ground conditions, and considering the schedules and needs of both teams and their supporters, it was agreed that the best course of action was to name AmaZulu FC and Nsingizini Hotspurs as co-champions of the 2025 edition,” said a spokesperson for the organising committee.
This year’s tournament has showcased determination and spirited competition, with both teams performing exceptionally to reach the final. Nsingizini Hotspurs, representing Eswatini, gained new admirers for their resilience, tactical discipline, and sportsmanship. Their supporters, many dressed in traditional attire, travelled to Prince Mangosuthu Stadium to cheer their team despite the adverse weather conditions.
