Lusaka – Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema bade farewell to Israeli President Isaac Herzog after a two-day state visit that aimed to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and technological ties between the two nations. The visit was a reciprocal engagement following President Hichilema’s visit to Israel in 2023.
During the stay, President Herzog and his delegation participated in bilateral talks with President Hichilema, followed by a state banquet held in his honour. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in agriculture, tourism, health, education, mining, energy, water management, research and development, and science and technology. Both leaders also exchanged views on fostering lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

President Hichilema described the visit as historic, noting that it deepened the enduring friendship between Zambia and Israel, a partnership grounded in shared faith, mutual respect, and a common vision for peace and prosperity. He expressed gratitude for the goodwill and blessings President Herzog offered over Zambia during the visit.
The reopening of the Israeli Embassy in Zambia, together with this reciprocal visit, reflects a commitment to strengthening economic and technological partnerships. The visit also carries symbolic significance for Zambians of the Christian faith, who consider Israel the land of the Bible.
President Hichilema expressed hope that the seeds of cooperation planted during the visit will grow into lasting prosperity for both nations, extending blessings to the Republic of Zambia and the State of Israel.
