Omoda C7 launched with petrol and hybrid options

Mbabane -The long-awaited Omoda C7 has been officially priced as it completes the brand’s 2025 model roll-out, slotting between the C5 and C9. The vehicle was first shown at the Kyalami Festival of Motoring in August.

The C7 rides on Chery Group’s T1X platform and measures 4 621 mm long, 1 872 mm wide, 1 673 mm high, with a 2 700 mm wheelbase. Seating is for five passengers, and boot capacity ranges from 590 to 614 litres, expanding to 1 371 litres with the rear seats folded. The SUV is rated to tow 1 250 kg.

Petrol variants, Luxury and Elegance, use a 1.6 T-GDI engine producing 145 kW and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. Fuel consumption is claimed at 7.5 L/100 km. The plug-in hybrid SHS model combines a 1.5 T-GDI engine with an 18.4 kWh battery and electric motor, delivering 255 kW and 525 Nm. It offers an all-electric range of 105 km, a combined range of 1 200 km, and charges from 30 to 80 percent in 20 minutes on a 40 kW DC charger.

Standard features across petrol models include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, auto high beam, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, 15.6-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ambient lighting. Elegance adds red brake calipers, passenger seat electric adjustability, an eight-speaker sound system, heated and ventilated seats, LED fog lamps, and wireless charging. The SHS shares these features and adds massaging front seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 12-speaker sound system, and 20-inch wheels.

Safety systems on Luxury and Elegance include six airbags, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane change and departure warnings, traffic jam assist, hill start and descent control, multi-collision brake assist, and forward collision warning. The Elegance and SHS add a seventh airbag, blind spot monitoring, lane keep and prevention, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and a 540-degree surround-view camera.

The C7 is available in five colours: Matte Grey, Khaki White, Moonlight Silver, Misty Green, and Carbon Crystal Black. Petrol models come with a five-year/150 000 km warranty, five-year/75 000 km service plan, and a 10-year/1 million km first owner engine warranty. SHS models have a seven-year/200 000 km warranty and a 10-year unlimited km battery warranty for the first owner.

Pricing is set at E539 900 for the Luxury, E589 900 for the Elegance, and E689 900 for the SHS model.
