COVID-19: Eswatini records two (2) new deaths, confirmed cases shoot up to 909

Mbabane: The death toll in Eswatini has increased to 13 as two (2) deaths confirmed on Friday along with 36 new cases and 63 new recoveries.

Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi sadly announced that the two (2) new COVID-19 related deaths are of a 54 year old woman from Hhohho region and a 68 year old man from Manzini region. This indicates that the death toll has gone up to 13.

Nkosi went on to announce 36 new COVID-19 confirmed cases that came out 536 results, which is the highest number of test results conducted by the ministry on daily basis. The total number of confirmed cases in Eswatini has increased to 909.

The Minister further announced 63 new recoveries, bringing the number of recoveries to 515. The number of active cases in Eswatini now stands at 345 as the 36 new cases were newly registered cases.

Manzini remains the epicenter of the pandemic in the country as 497 of the total number cases comes from the region. Hhohho region comes second with 228 cases, followed by Lubombo region with 95 cases and lastly Shiselweni has recorded 89 cases in total up to date.

Nkosi emphasized on regular check up more especially to senior citizens and people with pre-existing illnesses. Nkosi said people with pre-existing illnesses should always adhere to their medication.

Minister Nkosi encouraged the public to continue adhering to all health precautionary measures given by the ministry of health and World Health Organization and this include regular washing of hands with running water and soap, practicing social distancing and wearing masks whenever one is going out.
