Johannesburg – Actress and businesswoman Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa has come out strongly in defence of her ex-husband, world-renowned DJ Black Coffee, following a wave of insensitive online comments and jokes about the musician’s hand injury.
In a video posted on her Instagram Stories, Mlotshwa expressed disappointment at how social media users handled a recent post involving her and Black Coffee, calling out what she described as a lack of empathy and respect.
“Hello everyone, and I’m just saying today I’m not going to be nice. I’m going to be quite frank; I’m disgusted at what you guys did with the previous post. Now, as much as Black Coffee and I are not together, he’s still the father of my children. You cannot do what you’re doing with this hand situation. I think it is insensitive and outright stupid,” she said.
“The post I made was from the set. Now stop it. Stop being stupid. Behave. Why, ninje? As Black people, it’s embarrassing how you guys constantly pull each other down. Stop,” she said.
The video resurfaced after Black Coffee took to X to address the bullying. The Grammy-winning DJ pleaded with the public to respect his family’s privacy, especially when it comes to their children.
“I understand that you people believe everything you read, and that’s fine. As a father, I have one request: please stop posting my children on your socials,” he wrote.
The former couple, whose divorce was recently finalised, have maintained a co-parenting relationship.
The Johannesburg High Court ruled the former couple’s marriage was valid and in community of property, meaning she is entitled to spousal support, monthly child maintenance for their two sons, and up to 50% of Black Coffee’s assets.
