Keran – Motoring enthusiast Blessing Mtshakazi, known as B-Smirk, covered the launch of the limited edition Isuzu X Rider Black in Keran, South Africa. The new model is part of a 150-unit production run and offers unique blacked-out styling.
The launch featured a three-day road trip from Keran to Johannesburg, covering around 600 kilometres. The journey included stops at scenic locations such as Brahman Hills and the Clarens area, where participants enjoyed leisure activities and tested the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.

The X Rider Black retains the same 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine as the standard model, producing 110kW and 350 Newton meters of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or automatic, as well as 4×2 or 4×4 drive. The limited edition stands out with Onyx black paint, gloss black 18-inch wheels, a laser-cut sports bar, blacked-out grille, roof rails, door handles, mirror covers, and black tailgate decal.
Pricing starts at E664,100, with the 4×4 version reaching E770,400. All models come equipped with General Grabber 83 all-terrain tyres.
Participants tested the vehicle on steep climbs using low-range 4×4, observing how power is distributed to maintain traction on slippery or uneven surfaces. The road trip provided a mix of adventure, comfort, and performance testing, showcasing the X Rider Black’s durability and design.
The trip concluded in Midrand Waterfall near Johannesburg after three days of driving through South Africa’s varied landscapes.
