Pretoria – The Embassy of Egypt in Pretoria hosted a farewell reception for Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa, David Douglas Hamadziripi, and his wife, marking the end of his seven-year diplomatic service in the country.
The event took place at the residence of Egypt’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmad Sharief, who paid tribute to Ambassador Hamadziripi for his contributions to strengthening relations between Zimbabwe and South Africa since 2018.
Ambassadors from Colombia, Cameroon, Algeria, Oman, Indonesia, and Somalia were among the diplomats who attended the gathering.
Ambassador Hamadziripi, a seasoned career diplomat, previously represented Zimbabwe as Ambassador to the Holy See and France, as well as Permanent Representative to UNESCO. He also served as non-resident Ambassador to Lesotho, Seychelles, and Mauritius, and later as Head of Multilateral Affairs at Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
He is now set to take up a new posting as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United States.
