SIGOMBENI – Officers from the Manzini Anti-Drug Unit stumbled upon a hidden marijuana farm at a homestead in Sigombeni during a routine patrol on Wednesday. The operation led to the seizure of 440 kilograms of dagga. A 27-year-old Mozambican man was arrested at the scene, while his accomplice managed to flee. Police also recovered an electric water pump, irrigation pipes, and bags of fertilizer used to maintain the illegal cultivation.

In a separate incident in Mbabane, police arrested two men aged 29 and 39 from South Africa and the KaNcesi area after they were intercepted transporting 408 kilograms of dagga in a foreign-registered van. The vehicle lacked the necessary licenses and permits. The suspects are expected to appear before the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court on charges of unlawful possession and transportation of dagga under the Pharmacy Act.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service confirmed that it will continue operations targeting the production and distribution of illicit drugs and warned that anyone found breaking the law will face prosecution.
