MBABANE – Romanian automaker Dacia has unveiled a new version of the Duster as a double cab bakkie, with a notably short loading area and unusual design.
The Duster Pick-Up, limited to the Romanian market, replaces the previous single cab model with a compact double cab, featuring a small cargo bed separated from the rear seats by a custom partition. Romanian coachbuilder Romturingia, responsible for the original design, retained the standard Duster body up to the side windows behind the C-pillar, where the bootlid transitions to a flat, shortened loading area.
The bakkie maintains the same overall dimensions as the standard Duster, giving it a maximum payload of 430 kg, 70 kg less than the previous model. The loadbox measures 1 050 mm in length and 1 000 mm in width, more than 600 mm shorter than its predecessor.

The Duster Pick-Up is offered in three trim levels – Expression, Extreme, and Journey – and is powered by either a mild-hybrid 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 96 kW with standard four-wheel drive, or a self-charging hybrid combining a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 1.2-kWh battery powering two electric motors for 107 kW, available in front-wheel drive. Transmission options include a six-speed manual for the mild-hybrid and a clutchless multi-mode system for the hybrid.
Available in seven colours, including Sandstone, Glacier White, Pearl Black, Schist Grey, Lichen Kaki, Terracotta Brown, and Cedar Green, the bakkie is priced from €25 983 (approximately E534 552 without taxes). Dacia confirmed the model will not be exported or sold under the Renault brand.
