Mbabane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) reported a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 54-year-old woman along Mzimnene-Nzingeni public road, Piggs Peak, in a kombi over the long weekend.
The accident which occurred on Sunday at 1435 hours also saw the driver and three other passengers; a 34-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and a three-year-old baby boy admitted at Pigg’s Peak Government Hospital for serious injuries.
Seven more passengers were treated and discharged.
The Toyota minibus driven by a 37-year-old man of Nkamanzi area lost control veered off the road and overturned several times, the Deputy Chief Police Information and Communication, Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni reported.
Meanwhile, 112 drink and driving arrests were made over the past seven days.
Other major accidents included the arrest of a 35-year-old man of Mkhitsini who was arrested and charged for being found in possession of dagga weighing 99.202 kg on Saturday.
The police said the man had hidden the stash between logs in a trailer Volvo truck without a license or permit while at Lavumisa border gate. The incident occurred at around 1900 hours.
