Minister of Information, Communications and Technology Savannah Maziya has been recognised with the Visionary Leadership in Transforming ICT and STEM Education Award by Space Kidz India.
The award was presented virtually during the Young Scientist India Grand Finale held on 22–23 August 2025 in Chennai, India. It honours her work in advancing ICT, promoting women and youth in STEM, and creating opportunities for girls in Eswatini to engage in the global space science ecosystem.
Under the partnership with Space Kidz India, Eswatini has recruited and trained 108 girls through the Shakisat and Mission Chakat initiatives. The programme empowers participants to design and launch small satellites, offering hands-on experience in space science and technology.
Minister Maziya said the initiative ensures that STEM training and satellite technology are accessible to girls across the country. “This award is not just mine—it belongs to every emaSwati girl who dares to dream beyond the sky,” she said. She added that the ministry will continue expanding the programme to reach girls in both rural and urban communities.
The Ministry of ICT congratulated Maziya, noting that the recognition strengthens collaboration between Eswatini and India and positions the country as a hub for innovation, inclusivity, and the development of future science and technology leaders.
