MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, together with Taiwan’s Ambassador to Eswatini Jeremy Liang, visited 10-year-old Amahle Simelane at Mbabane Government Hospital following a successful leg operation.
Amahle had struggled with severe rickets in both legs since the age of two, leaving her in constant pain and unable to walk properly. Her condition came to light earlier this month when Social Welfare Officers in Siphofaneni reported the case to the Deputy Prime Minister.
Dladla then sought assistance from Ambassador Liang, who referred the matter to the Taiwan Medical Mission. Orthopedic specialists Dr. Shin Neng Chuan and Dr. Simelane confirmed that surgery could be performed in Mbabane and carried out the procedure yesterday.
Speaking during the hospital visit, Dladla expressed gratitude to the medical team and the Taiwan Embassy for responding quickly. She said the operation had given Amahle “a new life” and hoped the young girl would soon be able to walk, run and attend school like her peers.
As part of the support, the Taiwan Embassy will provide a wheelchair for Amahle’s recovery, while the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office will donate a blanket.
