Johannesburg — George Beke, also known as Geobek, has officially joined the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) as a Professional Member, marking a significant step for African music on the global stage.
Beke, founder and Managing Director of Geobek Entertainment, has worked with artists such as Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Harmonize, DJ Tarico, and Yaba Buluku Boyz, helping bring African genres like Amapiano and Afrobeats to international audiences. His Geobek Standard initiative has facilitated collaborations between established and emerging artists, creating pathways for wider market exposure and economic growth for African talent.
“Joining the Recording Academy is not just a personal milestone, it’s a call to amplify African creators within the world’s most prestigious musical institution,” Beke said.
Beke’s role as a GRAMMY member will bring a Pan-African perspective to the Academy, influencing how African artists and genres are represented and celebrated globally. He also serves as international manager for East African artist Harmonize, overseeing global expansion strategies that integrate music, fashion, sports, wellness, and technology.
