Johannesburg – Kia South Africa has officially unveiled the refreshed fourth generation Carnival minivan featuring a redesigned exterior and upgraded interior technology. The facelift reduces the model range to two variants the entry level EX and the top spec SXL dropping the mid range SX.
The updated Carnival sports new LED headlights with L shaped daytime running lights a restyled bumper and bonnet and Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille. At the rear the tailgate now opens via a button next to the reverse camera instead of the usual grab handle while the light clusters are linked by a full width LED bar.
Inside the seven seat cabin offers a 2 2 3 seating layout with the SXL providing optional eight seats and middle row seats that swivel or recline. The SXL stands out with twin 12.3 inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto two tone leather seats and a traditional gear lever replacing last year’s rotary dial.

The EX variant comes equipped with 18 inch alloy wheels dual sliding doors a 12.3 inch infotainment screen six speaker audio wireless phone charging seven airbags parking sensors Electronic Stability Control and Hill Start Assist.
The SXL upgrades include 19 inch wheels a premium 12 speaker Bose sound system adaptive cruise control heated and ventilated electric front seats dual panoramic sunroofs a head up display 360 degree cameras and advanced driver aids such as Blind Spot Monitoring Lane Keep Assist and Collision Avoidance.

Power is supplied by a 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine delivering 148kW and 440Nm paired with an eight speed automatic gearbox. Despite weighing nearly two tonnes the Carnival accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 10 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 km/h.
Available colours include Panthera Metal Ceramic Silver Metallic Ivory Silver Metallic Snow White Pearl Metallic and Aurora Black Pearl Metallic. Pricing starts at R1 049 995 for the EX and R1 299 995 for the SXL. Each model comes with a five year unlimited kilometre warranty and a six year 90 000 kilometre maintenance plan.
It remains unconfirmed when or if the facelifted Carnival will arrive in Eswatini.
