Mbabane – Mbabane Highlanders have tabled a two-year contract offer to former Green Mamba coach Ernest Mavuso as part of a fresh rebuilding plan ahead of the upcoming MTN Premier League season.
Sources close to the capital-based giants confirmed that negotiations are underway, with Mavuso having already received a formal offer. If talks are finalised, the seasoned coach will lead the black and white outfit from the dugout when the new season kicks off.
The move comes as Highlanders begin reshaping their squad after a trophyless campaign. Club insiders said new player signings have been completed but will only be made public after the team returns from its pre-season camp.
Mavuso’s coaching resume includes domestic silverware and a historic CAF Champions League qualification with Green Mamba in 2023. Known for a no-nonsense approach and a clearly defined tactical system, Mavuso’s appointment would mark a significant shift for Highlanders, who are eager to return to the top of local football.
Efforts to get official comment from the club’s leadership yielded no response, as calls were not answered.
