MBABANE – Government officials and development experts will gather next Thursday at the UN Building in Mbabane to launch the 2025 Eswatini Economic Update, which will examine how digital technologies can support job creation and economic growth.
The launch, set for July 31 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, is a joint effort between the Government of Eswatini and the World Bank Group. This year’s report is themed “Harnessing the Potential of Digital Technologies for Eswatini’s Growth and Job Creation.”
The report provides an analysis of recent economic trends and outlines how digitalisation could help unlock opportunities for youth employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation in the country.
A panel of government ministers and development specialists is expected to lead the conversation. These include Economic Planning and Development Minister Dr Tambo Gina, Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg, and ICT Minister Savannah Maziya. They will be joined by World Bank representatives Ikechi Okorie, Marko Kwaramba, and Paul Seaden.
Also on the panel are Central Bank Research Director Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, UNESWA’s Henri-Count Evans, ICT Ministry’s Dr Rejoice Maseko and Andreas Dlamini, as well as José Rego from the Innovators Association of Eswatini and the World Bank’s External Affairs Associate Oarabile Minky Moiliwa.
The event will be livestreamed on YouTube to allow wider public access.
