MANZINI – His Majesty King Mswati III was told of the contributions of HRH Prince Lonkhekhela when he headed the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Prince Lonkhokhela who now serves as the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy had a photo opportunity with the king during the ENPF 50th anniversary at Mavuso Trade Centre.
He has been attributed to a E5.6 billion ENPF growth when he was the CEO for 24 years before he was appointed as a cabinet minister.
Earlier at the event, the prince received recognition during the speech presentation of the current CEO Futhie Tembe.
Tembe who is the third CEO since ENPF was established in 1974 had paid tribute to her predecessors in front of the king.
“Siloskhulu, I would be remiss if I did not pay tribute to the remarkable CEOs who have shaped the course of the Fund. We stand on the work of giants,” she said.
Tembe referred to the founding CEO, Naphtali Shabangu who served for 23 years as having “laid the cornerstone.”
“His bold vision, Your Majesty, set us on the path of stability and progress, and under his leadership, the Fund’s assets grew to E300 million.
“UmtfwaneNkhosi Lonkhokhela—the second CEO, who led with vision for 24 years. Under Prince Lonkhokhela’s stewardship, Your Majesty, the Fund’s assets grew significantly from E300 million to E5.6 billion, with more than 55 percent invested locally in impactful projects aligned with Your call,” Tembe said.
Tembe said the leaders have shown dedication, and strategic foresight that paved the way for exponential growth that was celebrated.
She also acknowledged Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi who moderated the session.
Tembe said Buthelezi the ministry continues to support ENPF which is their parastatal.
The CEO also said the entire cabinet has embraced His Majesty’s “Nkwe!!” mandate with conviction.
The celebrations were also attended by International Social Security Association (ISSA) delegates, past and present board members, staff members, captains of industries.
