MANZINI – OncAura Wellness Centre has offered up to E600 000 worth of breast, cervical, and prostate cancer free scanning services in a month for pensioners, the centre’s Managing Director, Dr. Mbongeni Dlamini said.

But the cases seem to be mostly climbing for women with cancer patients diagnosed in late stages.

“Eswatini has the highest rate of cervical cancer in the world, with 84.5 cases per 100,000 women. Many people are diagnosed too late, which limits treatment options,” Dr Dlamini said.

The OncAura Wellness Centre’s month-long campaign designed to address Eswatini’s rising cancer burden and the widespread issue of late diagnosis is two days into its conclusion on July 2.

The campaign also serves to highlight the importance of early detection, particularly for cancers that are treatable when caught early.

The free screenings are provided to members of the Eswatini Civil Service Pensioners Association as well as other elderly individuals.

Dr. Dlamini encouraged families to support their loved ones in getting screened.

“This is not just about tests, it’s about care, dignity, and giving our elders a better chance at life,” he said, adding that the process has been made as friendly and comfortable as possible to ease fears around cancer screening.

“We want pensioners to feel safe and cared for. Our staff is trained to guide them through the process with compassion,” Dr Dlamini said.

In addition to the three targeted cancers, OncAura is equipped to screen for colorectal and lung cancers, and the centre remains open to paying clients.
