MPHINI – The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has reached out to two grieving families following the brutal killings of two children in separate incidents that have shocked local communities.
Yesterday, officials visited the Vilakati homestead in Mphini to console the family of five-year-old Bandile Kwinika, who was abducted on his way to Mphini Primary School and later found murdered. The child had been reported missing before the discovery of his lifeless body, sending waves of grief and anger through the village.

Family members shared their immediate needs for food and burial assistance as they prepare for Bandile’s funeral scheduled for this weekend. In response, the Office delivered food parcels and other essential supplies while coordinating additional support to ensure the funeral goes ahead without further hardship.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s team also visited the Nxumalo homestead in Jericho to extend condolences after the shocking death of Tifezile Gwebu, who was found beheaded after being missing for several days. Her funeral plans remain pending as authorities await the outcome of a post-mortem examination.
Both communities remain in mourning as investigations into the murders continue.
