A jam-packed weekend of rhythm, culture, wellness, and community celebration awaits residents and visitors across Eswatini, with events lined up from Friday through Sunday in various parts of the country.
Friday grooves ignite the scene
House music fans are in for a treat tonight as FATSO 98 leads a stellar lineup at a local hotspot, joined by DJs Cup, Tharo, Mayas, Scottish, and Master Jack. Patrons can expect a night of thumping beats, great company, and flowing drinks.
Also on Friday night, IF’s Lounge promises a soulful session with performances from Mistosoul, Yamkela, and Acoustic Soul, offering a mellow groove to kickstart the weekend in style.
Saturday spins, spotlights and storytelling
Roviera Lodge in Siphofaneni will be buzzing with energy on Saturday as the Mega Escape & Spin Fiesta rolls into town for Zulu D’s birthday edition. The event mixes adrenaline-fueled car spinning with live DJ sets and a festive outdoor vibe. Tents, shades, and a love for noise are highly recommended.
Meanwhile, the Eswatini Theatre Club in Mbabane will host the Africa Day Food and Cultural Festival, curated by the African Women’s Peace and Development Foundation (AWPDF). Set for Saturday, 24 May, from 10am to 6pm, the festival will run under the theme Atibuye Emasisweni – Let Us Return to Our Roots, aligned with the African Union’s 2025 focus on Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.
The day will feature traditional music, dance, fashion, and food prepared by African diplomats. Cultural stalls, handmade crafts, storytelling, and art exhibitions will also be on offer. Entry costs E100, with digital payments available via 7687 8473 and ticket queries at 7604 1757.
Later that evening, karaoke night takes centre stage at the Red Pepper Pub inside Simunye Country Club. Whether it’s R&B, hip-hop or Afrobeat, the mic will be open for all daring enough to perform.
Sunday serves wellness, worship, and beats
On Sunday morning in Matsapha, the High Commission of India will host a free public yoga session at Temple Hall, Union Paper Mills. The session, starting at 10:00 AM, is part of the countdown to the International Day of Yoga (21 June) and carries the theme Yoga for Harmony and Peace. It’s supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and aligns with the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives under the message Cooperatives Build a Better World.
For gospel and choral fans, Esibayeni Lodge will host the Standard Bank Choral Music Competition from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Esangweni Hall. Choirs will compete in a showcase of powerful harmonies, elegance, and musical excellence.
By nightfall, Ocean Cuisine will switch the pace with The Make Up Show, a lively DJ-driven experience featuring Chronical Deep, Uncle Karly, Paris, and DJ Black. The party starts at 8 PM and entry is free.
Meanwhile, Greg XV & Friends will keep things festive at Mdzimba View Shisanyama with an all-day birthday bash promising music, food, and good vibes for everyone in attendance.
