A team of experts from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Pretoria office is currently in Eswatini to conduct an Employment Scoping mission. The mission, running from May 7 to 9, 2025, focuses on skills development, enterprise development, and employment promotion.
The team will engage with various government ministries, public enterprises, development partners, and social partners to assess the country’s job creation challenges. The mission aims to discuss efforts for improved coordination, institutionalizing mechanisms to measure skills gaps, and enhancing the matching of skills to available jobs.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has recognized gaps in technical training, youth entrepreneurship programs, and school-to-work transition support, and will work with the ILO to address these issues through potential programmatic interventions.
