Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister of Eswatini, presented musical instruments worth E156,300 to Nkosenomusa Sibaya Gamedze, a 25-year-old visually impaired musician from Hlutsi, Gilgal Inkhundla.
Nkosenomusa, who lost his sight to glaucoma after being born with normal vision, had to drop out of school during his second year due to the condition. Despite the setback, he developed a passion for playing the keyboard and has since been performing at his local church. His dream of pursuing a career in music took a significant step forward after he reached out to the Deputy Prime Minister for assistance.

During the handover ceremony, Nkosenomusa expressed his gratitude for the support, stating that it would allow him to generate income, improve his life, and give back to others with disabilities. His mother, Bakhetsile Gamedze, was emotional as she reflected on the family’s efforts to restore her son’s vision, only to learn that glaucoma was irreversible.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared her excitement in meeting Nkosenomusa in person and offered encouragement for his musical aspirations. She also assured the family that the support provided would help Nkosenomusa become self-sufficient.
In addition to the donation of musical instruments, Dladla announced plans to construct two houses for vulnerable families in the Gilgal Inkhundla as part of His Majesty King Mswati III’s initiative to provide quality housing for all Emaswati.
The event was attended by Principal Secretary Siboniso Nkambule, Under Secretary Makhosi Simelane, and the Inkhundla council, led by MP Sifiso Gadlela.
