MBABANE – A new Roads Authority Levy of 40 cents per litre will be added to the price of fuel in Eswatini starting Friday, 4 April 2025, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy.
The levy, introduced under the Roads Authority Act of 2023, will take effect at midnight on Thursday, 3 April. The Ministry stated that this charge aims to fund the maintenance, rehabilitation, and development of the national road network.
Despite the addition of the levy, fuel prices will remain unchanged for the month of April. The Ministry attributed this to slight over-recoveries in fuel products during the pricing period.
The Ministry acknowledged the support of fuel suppliers, transport operators, and the public in the rollout of the levy, which was announced earlier by the Ministry of Finance during the national budget speech.
