The Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration Commission (CMAC) has kicked off its Annual Labour Law Seminar today at Happy Valley Hotel. The two-day event, themed “Innovation, Agility & Adaptability in the Workplace for Long-Term Sustainability,” explores the evolving landscape of labour law and workplace policies in Eswatini.

Justice Nkosinathi Nkonyane and Advocate Cameron Sello Morajane headline the seminar as keynote speakers, addressing critical issues such as emerging labour market trends, artificial intelligence in the workplace, and modern approaches to dispute resolution. The discussions provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing employers and employees in an era of rapid transformation.

A major highlight of the seminar is a panel discussion on sustainable labour practices, with a special focus on the proposed Unemployment Benefit Scheme. The initiative aims to support retrenched workers and provide financial relief for employees on maternity leave, a topic that has sparked widespread interest among stakeholders in the labour sector.

Marking CMAC’s 25th anniversary, this year’s seminar reflects on the commission’s contributions to labour dispute resolution and policy development in Eswatini. Experts and industry leaders are using the platform to shape strategies that ensure a more resilient and adaptive workforce, reinforcing CMAC’s commitment to fostering a fair and progressive labour environment.
