The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) conducted a Corporate Governance Training for Sustainable Community Tourism Establishments yesterday at the Mananga Centre for Regional Integration and Management Development in Ezulwini. The training aimed to equip community tourism leaders with a clearer understanding of their roles and responsibilities, ensuring the long-term viability of community tourism businesses.
ETA Chief Executive Officer Vusie Dlamini attended the event, commending the participation of community board trustees from various regions. These trustees, elected by their respective communities, are responsible for overseeing local tourism initiatives. The training focused on capacity-building to help transform community tourism establishments into profitable enterprises that deliver meaningful economic value.
Key stakeholders from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO), the Eswatini Association of Savings & Credit Co-Operatives, Indalo Eswatini, and the Eswatini National Trust Commission also took part in the workshop. Their contributions provided insights on improving tourism offerings and utilizing research data to enhance the sector’s growth.
The event marked a step toward stronger collaboration and the development of a strategic roadmap for sustainable community tourism. With Eswatini’s diverse community-based tourism experiences, the sector is positioned to drive broader economic benefits while preserving cultural and environmental heritage.
