Ezulwini-The government of Eswatini has called on graduates to harness their skills to become job creators rather than relying solely on employment opportunities.
Speaking at the National Handcraft Training Centre (NHTC) and the Co-operative College of Eswatini (ECODEC) double graduation ceremony in Ezulwini, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo stressed the importance of self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship.

Khumalo commended the 140 graduates for their achievements, emphasizing that the skills gained from these institutions empower them to establish businesses and contribute to economic growth. He urged them to apply their knowledge effectively and take charge of their futures.
“We are proud of the institutions and the skills they impart. Overcoming poverty requires more than employment—it demands learning skills that enable one to become an employer. These graduates now have the ability to start their own businesses and provide jobs for others,” he said.
Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, who served as the Guest of Honour, reinforced the significance of equipping young people with skills relevant to the modern job market. He highlighted the need to support marginalized groups, including people with disabilities, those from remote areas, and orphans, ensuring that no one is left behind in the country’s development.

Nxumalo challenged the graduates to step into the world with confidence and purpose, urging them to use their training to uplift their communities. “Go forward with passion and determination. Use your knowledge and skills to transform lives. Embrace the challenges ahead and take an active role in shaping the future of emaSwati,” he said.
