Mbabane – A 14-year-old boy is receiving hospital treatment after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by a 16-year-old schoolmate at a school in the Ezulwini area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, October 20, at around 12:49pm, prompting Lobamba police to launch an attempted murder investigation.
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the 16-year-old suspect, who is from Ebuka, approached the victim, from Mahwalala, while he was drinking water from a bottle and asked to use it.
When the younger boy reportedly told him that he was still drinking, the suspect allegedly took a knife from his schoolbag and stabbed him on the left side of his chest.
The victim was rushed to hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police were called to the scene and took the suspect in for questioning. He remains in police custody as officers process the appropriate legal procedures, taking into account that he is a minor.
