MBABANE – Eswatini’s creative sector is being called to unite as the Eswatini Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) reopens its doors to artists, entertainers and other industry stakeholders through a new membership drive.
The association officially opened registration on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, marking what it describes as an important step towards rebuilding and strengthening its presence within the country’s arts and music fraternity.
Both former members and creatives joining SWAMA for the first time are being encouraged to register and play a role in shaping a stronger and more representative creative industry.
At only E50 per individual, the membership drive is open to a wide range of people working across Eswatini’s creative and cultural sectors.
SWAMA’s membership is not limited to musicians. The association is inviting singers, composers, songwriters, music producers, sound engineers, DJs, artist managers, promoters, comedians, poets, fine artists, arts writers and media practitioners to come on board.
Actors and actresses working in theatre and film, authors and other individuals with an interest in the creative industries are also eligible to register.
The inclusive approach comes as the association seeks to bring different sectors of the creative industry under one platform, recognising that the growth of Eswatini’s arts ecosystem depends on the participation of artists, administrators and other industry players.
For bands, groups, collectives and other artistic formations, each individual member is required to register separately and pay the E50 membership subscription.
SWAMA Public Relations Officer Ndumiso Dlamini said the registration drive represents an important step in the association’s efforts to rebuild and create a stronger creative community.
The association is calling on creatives not only to become members, but to actively contribute to the development and representation of the sector.
Registration can be completed online by filling in the membership form and attaching proof of payment before submission. Creatives who experience difficulties with the online process can register in person at any Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) office countrywide.
The E50 subscription can be paid through FNB account 63218052601, branch code 281264, Instacash Pay-Bill 111222, or MoMo on 76819535.
Members are advised to keep a screenshot or copy of their proof of payment, as this will be required during registration.
With registration now underway, SWAMA is positioning the membership drive as an opportunity for Eswatini’s creative community to reconnect, participate and have a stronger collective voice in the development of the industry.
For enquiries and assistance, creatives can contact SWAMA on 7808 5408.
