MBABANE – A free beauty skills programme is giving women and young people an opportunity to turn their passion for beauty into a source of income and a possible pathway to financial independence.
The programme, introduced by Buhle Bakho Tandla Tetfu Empowerment in partnership with the Mbabane West Constituency, will provide fully sponsored training in nail technology, hairdressing, makeup artistry and braiding.
The initiative is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills they can use to start small businesses from home, reducing the need for expensive commercial spaces and giving aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to earn an income using their own skills.
Founder of Buhle Bakho Tandla Tetfu Empowerment, Nombuso Dlamini, said the programme comes at a time when many people are struggling to find formal employment.
“As Buhle Bakho, we are very excited for this opportunity,” Dlamini said.
“We know that employment is low right now. This is a chance to help put something in people’s pockets and to give them skills they can use to support themselves and their families.”
According to Dlamini, the initiative goes beyond teaching beauty techniques as it seeks to empower women to become financially self-reliant.
She said when women are equipped with income-generating skills, the benefits extend to their families and communities, as they are better positioned to contribute financially and create opportunities for others.
The programme will begin with a free community briefing where interested participants will receive information about the available training, requirements and registration process.
The organisers are particularly encouraging women and young people who are unemployed, seeking a fresh start or interested in starting a beauty-related business to attend the briefing.
The briefing will be held at Mbabane West Inkhundla on Friday at 10:00am.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about how they can benefit from the sponsored programme and take the first step towards acquiring skills that could become a source of livelihood.
Dlamini urged interested community members to take advantage of the opportunity and invest in skills that could help them build sustainable income streams.
