Mbabane– Two men accused of carrying out a series of armed robberies in the Hhohho Region have been remanded in custody until July 27, 2026, where they are expected to address the court on bail.
Sandile “Msandi” Hadzebe (27) of Kazombodze area and Mnqobi Thishela Kunene (25) of Nkwalini Zone 2 appeared before Senior Magistrate Sfiso Vilakati at the Mbabane Magistrate Court.
The accused persons face nine counts of robbery allegedly committed between May 31 and June 30, 2026, in the Motshane and Ngwenya (Ka-Daki) areas.
The alleged robberies involve property and cash valued at thousands of Emalangeni, including several mobile phones.
According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly threatened victims with knives and, in some instances, assaulted or kicked them before taking their belongings.
The alleged incidents include a robbery at Motshane on June 28, 2026, where the accused allegedly robbed Konkhe Kunene of a Huawei PXL cellphone valued at E1 200.
On the same day, they allegedly robbed Mawethu Dlamini of an iPhone valued at E4 600 and E400 in cash.
Another alleged victim, Snakekelo Kunene, was allegedly robbed of an iPhone valued at E3 700 and E200 in cash.
The accused are also alleged to have robbed Lindelwa Mlindo Dlamini of E200 in cash and Khayelihle Nkhambule of E20.
On June 30, 2026, the accused allegedly robbed Vusimuzi Dlamini at Ngwenya (Ka-Daki) of a Redmi A1 cellphone valued at E900.
The charge sheet further alleges that the pair were involved in separate robberies at Motshane on May 31 and June 16, 2026.
In the May 31 incident, they allegedly robbed Sile Ncongwane of a black Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued at E2 600.
On June 16, Felicia Magagula was allegedly robbed of an iPhone valued at E5 650.
The ninth count relates to an alleged robbery at Motshane on June 7, 2026, where Zwile Simelane was allegedly robbed of property valued at E4 050.
The items allegedly taken included a black Samsung A14 cellphone valued at E2 000, blue and white Adidas push-ins valued at E750, E1 200 in cash and black wool leggings valued at E100.
When their rights to legal representation were explained, Hadzebe informed the court that he intended to engage a defence attorney, while Kunene told the court that he would conduct his own defence.
The two accused persons were remanded in custody until July 27, 2026, when the issue of bail is expected to be addressed.
