Mbabane– Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with an arson case in Siphocosini while investigators pursue a separate suspected malicious damage to property case involving a house fire in Ntondozi.
The suspect, a resident of Dlangeni, was arrested by Mbabane Police and charged with arson following a fire that destroyed a rondavel kitchen belonging to a 74-year-old woman.
According to police, the incident occurred on June 23, 2026, at about 6pm when the woman’s kitchen at Siphocosini was allegedly set alight. The structure, valued at E26,000, was destroyed in the blaze.
The accused is expected to appear before the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court on June 24, 2026.
In a separate incident, Malkerns Police have opened an investigation into a suspected malicious injury to property case after a house in Ntondozi was destroyed by fire.
The owner, a 47-year-old man, reported that his house caught fire on June 23 at about 8am, resulting in property worth E57,000 being damaged.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been deliberately started. Police said the homeowners had left for work earlier that morning and everything in the house was intact at the time.
Investigators suspect that an intruder may have broken into the property before the fire started.
Police are appealing for information that could assist in the investigation. Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has information related to the incident has been asked to contact Malkerns Police.
