Malkerns – Enactus Eswatini and the Malkerns Town Council are calling on unemployed young people in the area to apply for a year-long entrepreneurship programme that gets underway in April 2026 and runs through to March 2027.
The programme targets out-of-school graduates living within the Malkerns Town Council jurisdiction who hold a minimum of a Form 5 qualification. The closing date for applications is April 17, 2026.
Country Director Sabelo Dlamini said empowering youth through entrepreneurship was at the heart of what the programme set out to achieve.
“Empowering young people through entrepreneurship is critical to building resilient communities. This programme seeks to unlock the potential of youth by providing them with the necessary skills and support systems to create sustainable livelihoods,” he said.
Selected participants will go through intensive training in core entrepreneurship fundamentals, learning how to spot business opportunities, build sustainable business models and run their enterprises. Mentorship, financial guidance and ongoing support will also be provided throughout the programme.
The selection panel will assess applicants on the clarity of their vision, the practicality of their ideas and how well they can articulate their business concepts, with a particular interest in ideas that can scale and create jobs. Shortlisted applicants will present their ideas at an interview before final selection. Successful graduates will receive certification from Enactus Eswatini upon completing the programme.
The launch follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Enactus Eswatini and the Malkerns Town Council. Acting Town Clerk Nokwanda Kgomo said the agreement reflected what both parties wanted to achieve for the community.
“This Memorandum of Understanding represents a shared commitment to empowering our youth, promoting innovation, and driving sustainable community development. By combining our institutional support with the energy and creativity of young people, we are confident this partnership will unlock meaningful opportunities and deliver lasting impact for Malkerns and beyond,” said Kgomo.
Enactus is a global non-profit active in 35 countries, focused on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Application forms are available on the ENtrepreneurial ACTion for US Eswatini Facebook page via QR code, or from the Malkerns Town Council offices.
