Mbabane – Government has confirmed that four more third country nationals have arrived in the Kingdom after being transferred from the United States under an agreement aimed at facilitating their return to their home countries.
According to a press statement issued on Thursday by Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli, the arrangement was first entered into in 2025 between the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the United States. The programme allows migrants who are not citizens of the United States to be relocated to Eswatini while preparations are made for their repatriation to their countries of origin.
“The Nation will recall that in 2025, the Kingdom of Eswatini entered into an agreement with the United States of America under which the United States would transfer third-country nationals to Eswatini for the purpose of facilitating their eventual repatriation to their respective countries of origin.”
Government said the latest group consists of four men from different African countries. One of them is from Tanzania, another from Sudan, while two are citizens of Somalia.
Authorities reported that repatriation efforts for those already received under the programme are progressing. A national of Jamaica was returned to his home country in September last year, and another migrant has obtained travel documentation and is expected to leave Eswatini soon.
Government said engagements with the countries of origin for the remaining individuals are continuing as officials work to arrange their return.
Officials also acknowledged the role of the International Organization for Migration, describing it as a strategic partner assisting with the programme and providing expertise in migration management.
Government further reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the rights and dignity of the third country nationals are respected while they remain in the country.
