MBABANE – The Eswatini Electricity Company has introduced the Life Line Tariff S-10 to help unemployed citizens and households earning E3,500 or less per month access affordable electricity.
The tariff allows qualifying customers to purchase the first 0–75 kilowatt-hours of electricity at a reduced rate. Costs increase with higher consumption, encouraging responsible usage while protecting low-volume users. The tariff resets monthly so households using less electricity continue to benefit from the subsidy.
EEC said the initiative is aimed at cushioning vulnerable households from high electricity costs and ensuring fair access to energy.
Applicants must undergo pre-screening to confirm eligibility and complete a form providing personal details, a household socio-economic assessment, and a recommendation from the local authority.
Eligible customers are encouraged to visit their nearest EEC Service Centre or send a direct message for information and to apply. The Life Line Tariff is part of EEC’s efforts to provide electricity access to all segments of Eswatini society.
