Mbabane- The planned umtsimba ceremony between former His Majesty’s Correctional Services Commissioner Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase and Nokwazi Mkhwanazi will go ahead after the High Court dismissed an urgent application opposing it on Friday.
The application was filed by Nothando Ntshangase, Mzuthini’s ex-wife, who sought to stop the ceremony at Mkhwakhweni, which she maintains is her matrimonial home. While she did not oppose her husband’s marriage to Nokwazi Mkhwanazi, she argued that the chosen venue raised serious legal and customary concerns.
Chief of Mkhwakhweni, Chief Masiphula Ntshangase, also opposed the planned umtsimba, citing the ongoing Incwala ceremony. Chief Masiphula told the court that Mzuthini had not sought permission to hold the ceremony and that he did not authorise it. He further alleged that Mzuthini was “a law unto himself” in the area and claimed his actions were hindering development in Mkhwakhweni.
Chief Masiphula added that Mzuthini does not belong to the Ntshangase ruling household, describing this as the root cause of the ongoing disputes. In response, Mzuthini said he reported the matter to the libandla, arguing that the chief does not reside in the community. He added that the libandla failed to relay the information to the chief.
With the dismissal of the urgent application, the umtsimba will now go ahead as planned
