Mbabane – The Kingdom of Eswatini is currently hosting over 40 global city leaders for the prestigious International City/County Management Association (ICMA) lobal Exchange Programme, running from September 2 to 7, 2025.
This spearheaded by the Eswatini Local Authorities Managers Association (ELAMA), establishes Eswatini as the burgeoning hub for urban innovation and international collaboration.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala highlighted the significance of the programme, emphasizing its role in fostering global partnerships and advancing urban development within the nation. Under the Ministry’s leadership, all Eswatini municipalities are actively participating to ensure widespread national benefit from the exchange.
Key highlights of the program include a Sustainable Urban Development Seminar held at the Happy Valley Hotel Trade, facilitating crucial city-to-city learning and collaboration. Leaders from the USA, Australia, South Africa, and other nations are engaging in discussions and sharing best practices. The exchange also serves as a platform to showcase Eswatini’s strategic projects, aiming to unlock new investment opportunities.
In alignment with His Majesty King Mswati III’s Nkwe directive, emaSwati are encouraged to embody the spirit of bravery, unity, and hospitality as they extend a warm welcome to the international delegates.
