Mbabane – Prime Minister (PM) Russell Dlamini has announced that the government has reached a final settlement on the long-running Phase II remuneration alignment for the country’s security forces, the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) and His Majesty’ Correctional Services (HMCS).
Officers in the ranks of Inspector, Chief Officer, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent will get professional adjustments of a retrospective once-off payment at an 8% net value rate for a maximum of 24 months for, after which salaries will be realigned accordingly, effective September 20205, the PM said.
For the ranks of Assistant Inspector and Assistant Chief Officer, the adjustments will be made within the context of the functional levels below, due to the minimal nature of the changes required.
In addition, for functional levels such as Assistant Inspector, Assistant Chief Officer, Sergeant Instructor, Sergeant Water Instructor, Constable and Warders, the government will pay a 3% increment on basic salary for a maximum of 24 months, strictly limited to officers eligible under the agreement.
The PM, making the announcement on Thursday at the cabinet offices, said these adjustments are based on the recommendations of the consultant’s assessment, bringing closure to an issue that has been widely debated in the public domain for years.
The matter began as a restructuring exercise aimed at aligning the salaries of similar ranks within the security forces.
However, over time it grew into what he described as “a matter of major national interest” that was spoken of “in both hushed and loud tones” across the country.
The collective agreement between the Ministry of Public Service and staff associations from both institutions was signed on Wednesday August 13, 2025.
The PM expressed hope that the conclusion would be accepted and respected by all officers in the country’s security forces, as well as their families.
