MBABANE – Local businessman and Stratcom CEO Sbu Mngadi has taken to social media to voice frustration over what he describes as the increasing overreach of regulatory bodies in Eswatini.

Posting on his personal Facebook account early Monday morning, Mngadi accused state agencies of morphing into competitors rather than supporters of the private sector. He warned that the very institutions meant to stimulate economic growth were now stifling it.

“As a country, we established regulatory agencies to facilitate growth in key sectors of our economy. But some of these agencies have become monsters or something else entirely—they now compete with the very citizens and private sector players they were meant to support,” he wrote.

The post has drawn reactions across business and political circles, particularly as Mngadi is known for his outspoken views. He added that fear and silence have allowed the dysfunction to continue unchecked.

“Many are too afraid to speak up—fearful of rocking the boat, even when things are clearly not working. Well, I will speak. Loudly if I have to. Even if I get deported to KZN for it; despite being born and bred here,” he wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

Mngadi also responded to ongoing controversy surrounding Nkwe Okandaba, a public commentator whose recent remarks sparked political debate. “Let’s also not twist the message of Nkwe. Okandaba did not call for chaos—he’s calling for truth, for courage, and for accountability,” Mngadi wrote.

On Sunday evening, he made a separate post indirectly criticising Minister Savannah’s oft-repeated comment about “EmaSwati pulling each other down.” “Now I know where that comes from,” he said, without elaborating.
